Home of the Kansas State School for the Deaf, established in 1866

Home of Mid America Nazarene University, established in 1966

The hottest temperature recorded in Olathe was 114 degrees, in July 1954

Dry cleaning pick-up and delivery was originally provided to residents of the original Olathe-Town in 1871 by Fergus Nichols, local undertaker and businessman.  He used his horse-drawn green hearse as a delivery vehicle.  (this may or may not be true)
